Miroslav Brvnistan

JUDr. Miroslav Brvnišťan, PhD. is member of Board of Directors and currently serving as CEO of IstroSec.

Commencing his career at the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic in 1992, he ascended through various posts, culminating in the prestigious position of Advisor to the Minister, with a focus on security and European integration.

In 2002, he transitioned to the National Security Authority of the Slovak Republic, where he held diverse management positions. From 2006 to 2010, he served as the NSA Liaison Officer at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Brussels.

A notable academic success he achieved in 2010 when he successfully defended his PhD thesis in the field of information protection. Subsequently, he was appointed Deputy Director of the NSA.

In 2015, he retired from his career at NSA and founded BMSEC s.r.o., a company dedicated to security education, information protection, and cybersecurity.

Parallelly, he contributed to academia, serving as an external assistant professor for seven years at the Police Academy in Bratislava and for two years at Matej Bell University in Banská Bystrica, specializing in the subject of Information Protection.

Since 2016, he has assumed the role of President at AFCEA Slovakia, a civil association committed to collaboration between the public sector, academia, and the private sphere.

Throughout his career, he actively participated in various international scientific conferences, where he presented his expertise and contributed to the academic discourse. Additionally, he has authored several scientific publications and numerous articles that have significantly influenced the domain of security.
